“I represent 210,000 people, of all shapes and stripes, from Austin to Bensenville , from Oak Park to Franklin Park .  I have no intention of engaging in a campaign that divides this district based on race, religion, ethnicity, geography, sexual orientation, or even political preference.  As I campaign for re-election, I’m going to focus on the things that unite the people of the 39^th District.  I don’t subscribe to a jaded politics of divisiveness that trades the support of one group of constituents for another.”

    The 39th Legislative District is an urban/suburban district that includes Oak Park north of Washington Boulevard, River Forest north of Iowa Street, much of the Austin and Galewood neighborhoods in the City of Chicago (including parts of the 28th, 29th, 36th and 37th Wards), Melrose Park north of Lake Street, Stone Park, and part of Berkeley in Proviso Township, Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, Schiller Park, Northlake and Rosemont south of Devon Avenue in Leyden Township, part of Bensenville in DuPage County, and a lone precinct in the Chicago's 41st Ward, which contains O'Hare Airport.

    The 39th Legislative District includes both the 77th and 78th House Districts.  The 77th House District, represented by Rep. Angelo "Skip" Saviano, consists of the Leyden Township and DuPage County portions of the 39th District, as well as O'Hare Airport.  The 78th House District, represented by Rep. Deborah Graham, includes the remaining City of Chicago precincts, and the Oak Park, River Forest, and Proviso township portions of the 39th Legislative District.
